Parish Path Adopters

We are looking for volunteers to become Parish Path Adopters (PPAs)

The task of a PPA should be well within the scope of the vast majority of our members and it is an easy way for Brentwood Ramblers to make a real contribution to our Charitable Objectives.

So, what are we expecting the PPA to do?

• Walk every path in their allocated Parish once each year.
• Note all the faults encountered from an agreed range
• Report the faults on the Highways website
• Copy the faults to the Group Working Party

We will provide details of the type of fault to report, how to use the website, lists of local contacts, means of converting grid references to post codes and vice-versa, maps etc. – in fact everything that will be needed for the task.  Coaching will be available for anyone having difficulty. The actual task of a PPA is relatively easy and is unlikely to occupy the equivalent of more than 2 or 3 days each year.  The big problem will be recruiting sufficient volunteers.  Over Essex we estimate that we are going to need to recruit some 350 PPAs and probably 10 or so for the Brentwood Area.

At the moment we are just looking for people who would be interested in helping out in this task.

The areas, so far, are as follows: Blackmore, Brentwood, Brentwood NW, Brentwood NE, Brentwood S, Doddinghurst, Herongate & Ingrave, Ingatestone & Fryerning, Kelvedon Hatch, Mountnessing, Navestock, Stondon Massey and West Horndon.
